Our projects

Over the years, Acadec has purchased agricultural land near Mutiene and Dwalé, totalling some 1,100 hectares for agriculture. Part of this land is then made available free of charge to Congolese villagers. These are mostly families with no resources, widows with children or young people with no jobs or training.

To enable them to start farming activities on their new land, ACADEC covers start-up costs such as clearing, skidding, ploughing, purchasing seeds and cuttings, in the form of micro-credit. The NGO then mentors the beneficiaries so that they learn to cultivate their fields properly and are able to repay the loan. The money from the repayments is then used to help new beneficiaries, and the virtuous circle is initiated !

An elementary school has been built in Dwalé, welcoming around a hundred children a year. The children, who live in extreme poverty, receive one meal a day at school.

The school's first 10 students graduated from elementary school. It was a first for the village, and the children (and their parents) were very proud!

A secondary school is constructed, and thanks to the generosity of two donors, a pre-elementary school is ready to accommodate the student's younger brothers and sisters.

A medical center has been set up thanks to the generosity of a Belgian foundation. It gives villagers access to health care. Two nurses are permanently on hand to ensure the smooth running of the center and the care of the villagers.

A pharmacy will also be built along the road linking Kinshasa to Kikwit, which passes through Dwale and Mutiene.

Villagers and visitors will be able to buy essential medicines.

Historically, villagers had to travel several kilometers to reach a spring to get access to water. Thanks to the generosity of a Swiss foundation, a solar-powered pumping system has been installed, and the villagers of Dwalé now have access to drinking water in their village. It's changing their lives and improving their health!

Villagers have to pay for access to water so that consumption can be regulated. The price is minimal and allows the villagers of Dwalé and Mutiene to have direct access to water without having to go to the river and carry huge water cans on their heads.

One person is in charge of distributing the water and ensuring that the solar-powered pump runs smoothly. 

As some children suffer from severe malnutrition, two nutrition centers have been set up in Mutiene and Dwalé. Thanks to the support of a Belgian family, the children receive one meal a day to help them overcome their malnutrition.

The children (and their parents) also learn basic rules of hygiene, and often leave with leftovers for their evening meal. While many children were still dying of hunger when Kaloma began her project, thanks to the program, children are no longer starving and are recovering from the effects of malnutrition.

For decades, most villagers have been involved in the charcoal trade, gradually deforesting the entire region. As a result, the territory of Mutiene and Dwalé has been completely deforested, it has become extremely difficult to make a living from charcoal alone, and many families have been plunged into extreme poverty.

Acadec therefore launched its reforestation project. After ten years, the landscape has changed dramatically in Mutiene and Dwalé. Dozens of hectares have been reforested, hundreds of fruit trees have been planted, and a nursery has been set up to plant new hectares of trees!
